Thanks to our Go friend Lapon Jirasophin from Thailand (Bangkok) for sharing some snaps of the 12th China (Nanning)-ASEAN Board and Card games International Tournament which took place from 15th till 20th October 2016. With his team mates he succeeded it to reach the finals (individual men) and semi-finals.
This annual event is an invitational tournament.
Nanning (Chinese: 南宁; pinyin: Nánníng; Zhuang: Nanzningz) is the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China. It is known as the “Green City” because of its abundance of lush tropical foliage. As of 2014 it had a population of 6,913,800 with 4,037,000 in its urban area (see video in bottom).
For the International Group the participating players only may come from Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Chinese Taipei, other overseas countries and the invited ten ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) countries: Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar/Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
For the Open Group all Chinese mainland Weiqi (Go) enthusiasts that are over the age of 16 years, physical health (over the age of 65 years should have the health examination certificate of the county level’s hospital) for this tournament and have the legal identity certificate (ID) can participate in. Non Chinese mainland players can participate in the Open Group Event. One player can only participate in one group event.
Obviously there is still a language barrier between China and the rest of the world. – The ASR Team didn’t receive any tournament details in ENG. Therefore please take a look at the 11th edition (in September 2015) to get an idea about this annual event.
