2016 an emotional roller coaster… 2017 starts with December prizes…

Dear members of ASR league, dear Go friends!

The whole ASR team wishes you all a very Happy New Year 2017.  May your dreams and personal targets for your Go studies come true.

For the ASR Team it had been exiting six months which felt for some moments like an emotional roller coaster. It was a work intensive time of day-by-day learning, with many night shifts (and lack of sleep). But it was worthwhile to invest all this energy, driven by our passion and our love for GO.
The ASR team overtook the project with 170 registered players end of June 2016. At beginning 2017, the ASR community counts 410 registrations in total.  We see the growth of >140% in six months as a positive beginning.

Dealing with the huge loss of more than 8,250 KGS accounts had been one of the toughest challenges in 2016; nearby 15% of all KGS accounts were gone from beginning August (56,000) till mid December (47,800) which took us the chance  to reach our self given benchmark of 500 registered Go players before end of 2016.

The biggest challenge of all that the small ASR team (of four) is working on in 2017: to build a competitive team… with core competences in all segments. This task will be one of the main targets, beside supporting the ASR league members with steadily improving all services.

The server crash on 15th Dec 2016 sets us one month back in our annual plannings for 2017. It took us till 3rd of January to bring ASR’s website back. It was not our intention to service the league members via ASR’s emergency blog page in 2nd half of December 2016. On the other hand the ASR team learned from this bigger impact about the weaknesses of ASR’s IT infrastructure following the motto: “Life is like a roller coaster. Scream or Enjoy the ride“. We thank all loyal ASR league members for their patience !

Following winners list had to be evaluated manually as the automated league system is still out of function. We work further on it with some IT experts and software specialists to repair the different damages/bugs.

As  we  have announced it in 2016 the ASR – Advanced Study Room will have Go professional Guo Juan to continue in 2017 within a new format. Therefore the prizes as known till league month December will be given for the last time as following. (Rec.: Take the chance to review past ASR teachings; they are all recorded and available in the archive here: .)

donate-safe-and-secure-button-072016-1Please think about that if you buy Go materials and equipment from our partner Go Game Guru the ASR League gets a 10% cut. – Buy a new Goban, Go stones or book series online there and it will support a safely future of ASR – Advanced Study Room.

We have expenses to pay (e.g. bandwidth + server costs, software license, legal advice, tax consultancy, programming/coding, design) as every NGO project has to.

It’s a win-win situation for both: you can progress in Go more easily, and ASR can live on by your donation ! – Also check out other ways to support the ASR League.

We may look ahead an interesting Go year !

Warm greetings from Hangzhou/China

“Coaster” by Khalid

As time passes, I feel so low
Searchin’ for pieces, covering up the hole
I’ll fight for your love, I’ll fight for your soul
I’ll throw all of my cares away for you
I’ll be there to wait for you
Maybe you weren’t the one for me,
But deep down I wanted you to be
I’ll still see you in my dreams,
All the things that I did for you, just wasn’t it for you

So I’ll be coasting, roller-coasting,
Through my emotion
I will be coasting, roller-coasting,
I’m hoping that you’ll come back to me

Moving on seems harder to do
When the one that you love moves faster than you
I gave you my all, I showed the proof of your lies
And you weren’t worth it, you don’t deserve me
As time passes I’m feeling high
You’re not the one I’m thinking of tonight
I may not be over you, but I’ll try inside
I’m feeling better now, finally feeling special now, oh

Coasting, roller-coasting,
In my emotions, oh
I’ll be coasting, roller-coasting,
I noticed you weren’t the one for me

You weren’t the one for me
Weren’t the one for me
You weren’t the one,
You weren’t the one for me,
So don’t come back to me, no
No, don’t come back to me, no
You weren’t the one for me
